No snap back on throttle cables

I just rebuilt my carbs and was putting on new throttle cables and for some reason I cant get them adjusted to a nice snap back. The old cables did the same thing. So I am thinking I am just a retard when it comes to sport bikes. This is the first one Ive ever owned. My bike is a 1998 CBR 900RR. The cables I put on are Motion Pro. If anyone has ever had this problem or could run me through the cable adjustment process would be greatly appreciated!

Re: No snap back on throttle cables

It could be that your throttle tube is worn or dirty. Take it off and clean it or replace it.

I replaced my throttle tube and the original had accumulated a lot of dirt between it tube and the bar. I didn't snap back either.

If the bike has ever been dropped it could also be that your bar has a slight bend in it . My throttle was getting cruddy and not snapping back freely then I went down and put a slight bend in the bar and I all the sudden had cruise control. I thought it was the dirt thing until I took the tube off and realized the slight bend wasnt letting the tube rotate freely.

Re: No snap back on throttle cables

Or maybe ur grips are too clsoe to the area where ur starter switch is. Or perhaps if u have bar ends the grip might have covered the bar end and it keeps grabbing

Re: No snap back on throttle cables

Just another thought when you placed the airbox on top of the throttle cables did you make sure the cables were in right route and airbox is not pinching them? happened to me once... :] good luck.
