Coolant question

Now this may sound like a stupid question but why is my coolant water bright green? Is it just antifreeze or is there a special additive in it?
I lost approx half the contents of it when I changed the front sprocket because I had to remove a water hose. I've filled it back up with normal water is this ok? I've tried searching the forum but can't find a definitive answer.

Re: Coolant question

Tap water has minerals in it that will cause build up and corrosion. Use distilled water instead or just 50/50 anti freeze

Re: Coolant question

As BurtonF166 said and water might freeze in winter so anti freeze is your best option.
