Adjusting throttle cable

Just a quick question. I've noticed that on my 929 that their is a small amount of play (maybe 10 degrees at most) on the grip before the throttle begins to opperate. My thought is that there is a tiny bit of slack on the cable. I'm guessing that I might be able to adjust it where it connects to the throttle body on the engine (the grip looks like a sealed unit, although happy to be proved wrong).

Anyone done this... from my service manual it looks like a tank off job? I'd like to learn from anyone elses experience before I have a look though.

Cheers, Adam.

There should be some movement of the twistgrip before the throttle begins to open. This is so that when the bars are turned there is free play in the cable which will ensure that the throttle is not opened should the cables tighten a bit.

Any excess free play can be taken up at with the adjusters on the cables by the twistgrip.

cheers

As R15 explained, there is an adjuster in the cable a couple of inches from the switch cluster.

Re: Adjusting throttle cable

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm more used to working on cars where the only real place to adjust the cable is at the carbs. Think I couldn't see the wood for the trees in relation to the adjuster. I realise there ought to be some slack just feels a little too much compared to my previous bikes.
Glad I posted the question, I was all for pulling bits off the bike on Saturday

Thanks again, Adam
