'99 clutch issue

Having some problems here. I pulled the engine out of my 99 blade, split the cases and put a new transmission in it, got it all back together and put it back in the frame. For the $100 or whatever it was I decided to put an EBC SRC clutch in it. All went back together the same way it came apart, but now the clutch won't disengage
The lever seems very hard to pull and it's like it's not lifting the pressure plate at all. The cable is adjusted damn near all the way out on both ends and I'm just about out of patience
The cable is in good condition as it worked perfectly fine before with much less slack taken out at both ends.

If someone has had a similar problem, any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: '99 clutch issue

Got into it a little bit today and noticed that my clutch inner doesn't spin freely of the basket when no plates or discs are installed. Took off the center nut and it spins, put it back on and it stops :S I used the service manual when putting it back together and all washers are in place as they should be.

Re: '99 clutch issue

from the FSM, possible causes of clutch lever too hard to pull in are:
Damaged, kinked or dirty clutch cable
Damaged Clutch Lifter Mechanism
Faulty clutch lifter bearing
Clutch lifter piece installed improperly

the next thing i see is there is a lock washer and thrust washer behind the lock nut, as well as a washer under the clutch inner. here is an exploded image of the clutch from the FSM.
http://home.comcast.net/~packman5280/900rrclutch.jpg
on the next page it mentions that the lock washer must be installed with the "OUT MM4" marks facing outward.
94 ft/lbs to tighten the lock nut.

any of that info help?
