Catch Can- the home brew solution

While this is the ďoff roadĒ section itís not really for off roading. Iíve posted previously that my son and daughter are doing mini moto this year and Iím the pit crew.

I need to come up with a catch can solution, because with all the money Iíve laid out for this, I REFUSE to spend $55 for a commercially available solution. Iíve heard if people using 5-hr energy bottles but I donít drink them, nor wish to advertise them nor would I consider it a solution due to its small volume and lack of opacity.

The bottle needs to able to be secure in a crash or placed in an area where itís protected from impact and heat. Iím looking for something sufficient easy to manage running the carburetor overflow and vent tube and also have a U-tube for air venting.

Wondering what the bright folks here have in mind to use.

have you seen the little clear bottles that you can decant things like shampoo/shower gel in for carrying it on hand luggage on a plane?

Re: Catch Can- the home brew solution

Went to the dollar store and picked up a kit, which had 2 in the pack for $1 (plus tax)

And got a mini-loofah for free!

What exactly are you catching in the bottle with a hose that has a plug in it?

I need a set of safety wire plyers, thanks for the reminder.

Re: Catch Can- the home brew solution

Nice powers of observation!
Part of the things we do to appease tech inspectors. Since I had to catch can the breather I had to undo the plug, thread it through my enlarged hole and then replug it.

Frankly I don’t know why the breather doesn’t come from factory vented to the airbox.

Loofah kit to follow, you manly man!

Re: Catch Can- the home brew solution

I’m thinking I should have just put a one way vent on the breather and been done with this bike. I will see if I can find a similar fuel line (clear) and plug for the other bike. Hopefully CG will have everything I need today.

How do I get the mods to move this thread to the Supermoto forum? Don’t know how I missed that.
