1993 XR 250

Can you tell me what this is and what it does. My 93 has the cable , but my 85 xr250 is missing the cable. Is this bad. Just got back into riding.

Looks like the decompression lever.
Or tacho drive perhaps?

Ok, it is the decompression lever that goes from the kick start to the head cover. Sorry to post with out fully researching. i was just concerned that one of my bikes didnt have the cable. thanks

If you were to increase the compression then you'd probably miss it more, but as long as you're not having any trouble starting the engine then it's not important.
