haha nice, I wonder if the Y2K jet bike can hit mach 1 (I doubt it but that'd be awesome) or any other fancy speed record bikes

I have a track day at the end of the month on the big AMA track at California Speedway in Fontana, CA, and it is still hard to hit more than about 140-150 on the straight, right before the turn 1 chicane. I am sure a pro could hit 165, but that is about it as the straight is not that long.

Few places are like Daytona, with sustained high-speed areas.

Public roads obvously have there limitations as well: speed limits; cops; pedestrians; other vehicles; animals; and uncertain visibility and road surfaces.

180 or so is a long way up to slow down from in a hurry!
What day are you signed up for at Fontana... Im still debating on weither to sign up or not

Re: 1000RR Top Speed?

the speedo will only indicate up to 185. mine still has about 500 more rpms to pull when i see 185. from what ive read its 178. one guy that geared his 16/39 said he hit 184 via a radar gun.

No worries here. I am fine with it. I was shocked that my speedo error was so low! My 954 error was horrible.

sooooooooooooooooooooooo

I would accept maybe as high as a 4 to 5 % margin of overall error. And that is giving a lot of benefit of the doubt
