Re: Track Bike??
That's a real tough call to make without seeing the bike. The damage could be a lot more extensive than you (or he) knows. Not sure what you mean by "legal bullcrap", but if you're only going to keep it a track bike just check the VIN to make sure it's not stolen and get a bill of sale if you buy it. From what I know about the older 'Blades, they don't compare to the newer bikes available today in terms of handling. Like HGT said, the WERA board always has lots of track bikes for sale...some pretty good deals can be found there.

Re: Track Bike??
Another good place to look for a track bike is the WERA board. There's guys selling fully track-prepped bikes. Often times they're ready to go, and they've already got the important performance mods done. Just a thought. I guess it comes down to whether you want to get something that's good to go, or if you want something you're going to have to put a lot of time, effort, and money into fixing. That one you just described sounds like the latter.

A friend of a friend in Detroit highsided a 98 (I think) 'Blade at Grattan's last turn 3 years ago. He will probably never ride again and is getting rid of it cheap. He hasn't touched it since the accident and it's still sitting in his garage.
Here's the story, all plastic is FUBAR, a cover somewhere on the engine has a slight leak either from abrasion or a crack, subframe is toast, handlebars, guages, etc, same condition.
Apparantly, frame is good (I question how he can be sure of that) forks are straight and undamaged except for abrasions (THAT I highly doubt), rims and rubber are all OK, swingarm is OK.
This bike is a British import and has never been legal in the States for a street bike. He used it at Grattan & Gingerman only.
First, what kind of legal bullcrap am I getting myself in for if I get this?? Also, (I know this is a hard question sight unseen) is this a worthwhile cause for less than $1000 US?? I went on E-Bay and didn't see much in the way of parts for it.
