they made that movie it was called Predator, Star Wars or The Matrix.

if it wasn't based off the game then it was just some other movie. If its gonna be Doom then it has to be based off the game.

The best video-game sequence in a movie was in "The Beach" when Leo's character is all cracked out running through the bushes.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

if you really liked the game and the whole fighting demons thing about it, you might not like the movie. i dont want to give too much away for those who havent seen it. it looks alot like doom 3, for the way the scenery is set up and so on, and they got the main character spot on, but its got nothing to do with doom 3, youll understand when you see it if you played the game. i would have liked it more if they didnt try to base it off the doom game, maybe if it was called something different it would have been better. also, the first person mode was corny.

Exactly! That's why I can't see DOOM, that would put me in the negative. I'd have to vote Liberal this spring.

I'll toss in one more comment on the sex vs. violence topic. I did let my 11 yo see the Going Tribal series on Discovery channel even though it contained some nudity. But it was National Geographic style nudity, and in my opinion pretty educational. This whole raising kids is a balancing act. Don't go off just because I am trying to make an informed decision.

I'm in total agreement. I just think it's rediculous.

Re: Anyone see DOOM yet?

Ok guys, I am not saying the kids haven't seen a breast or two, but it seems that rated R can mean anything from a boob sticking out to a full on sex scene. As to the violence, they have the game on their Xboxes. If they manage to make it a little more gorey in the movie, then good for them.

Let's get this straight. I did mention an 11 year old in this. Fortunately he is pretty grounded in reality and can make the distinction between blowing away a creature in a game, and in a movie, and doing the same to actual living creatures. My point and I think I was misunderstood was that they have the game already, so the violence aspect is something they have already seen, and commanded if you want to go that far. But if there's a bunch of T&A, which isn't in the video game, then I am going to have to say no.

Look, as a parent, I am in a lose lose situation here. Most people halfway pay attention to movie ratings. None of my kids friend's parents pay any attention to game ratings. My 13 year old had a friend bring over GTA: San Andreas and they set it up and started playing it right in the living room. Well, at least until I walked by and put an end to that. Then the 13yo conned the friend into leaving it, and they moved the game system into his room. A nightly roam through the house discovered it that night. I held it until the kid wanted it back. Since I had it hidden it became an ordeal to get it back. His parents were stunned that I didn't want a 13yo playing GTA.

You can give me **** about it all you want, but the violence is out there in every single FPS game, and a lot of others that don't even need it. T&A is another matter.

P.S. Watch one of the hundreds of CSI shows on tv now. Tell me violence isn't way more prevalent, and just about (*censored*) impossible to keep your kids from seeing..
