While your head is apart you could grind valve guide and clean up In. Ex. ports Lil better flow. Lighten flywheel and lower end parts maybe balanceing?
Barnett stage 2 or 3 kevlar steels and heavy spring kit. Forgot who I ordered from

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

No performance goodies planned. It's already jetted and has a full exhaust on it not much else I can do unless I bore it bigger and I didn't want to spend the money to do that. This winter I may tear it back apart and paint/powder coat the frame and swinger black and get new plastics. I can never leave anything alone always gotta mess with something

I was thinking about replacing the clutch springs to a little stiffer ones as my clutch looked okay when I pulled it out. What Kevlar clutch did you get?

Not sure how much was taken off but shouldn't have been much. I jst wanted to make sure I had a perfectly flat and good finish to start with when I put it back together.

Heck yea man. Sounds like your rolling on along .. was it necessary for the decking was it warped at all? Do you know how much was takin off total?
Do you have any plans for performance goodies? Or just stock rebuild?
barnett kevlar clutch with heavy springs is a totally different animal I put one in mine. But kinda pricey almost 300 I wanna say. But worth every penny of clamping grabbing power!
you find out if ur gonna have buy new valve seals?

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

Yep both have been decked to be sure there is a good mating surface, I took the cams out and then took it to the shop like that. I had plenty of other stuff to work on so I just let them do it. The shop here local is pretty cheap for engine work so I went ahead and let them do it.

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

Did they disassemble or you? It hasn't been put back together yet has it? I figure it hasn't since your thinking bout valve seals. All the valve guides were in good shape?
Have any decking done? bump that comp a hair

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

Hard get the seals off without damage. I went ahead and replaced all them took extra week for extra funds but I think was worth it considering I did everything else.

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

Well I got the kit and had order head gasket seperate.
Yea the valve seals get expensive 7 bucks for one side 6 for other times 8 of each lol.
I got valve lapping compound also and went ahead and lapped them in for good seal.

Cool head gasket and all? Trying to decide what to go with and finding out if I need new valve stem seals or not cause those are just as expensive as the bearings!

Re: Rebuilding My Engine 96 900rr

Free shipping from them and their prices were cheaper than any of them. Oem that is they don't have anything else for the 900rr but the oem stuff is pretty cheap. Where did you get your gaskets 900rr?
