This pretty much describes my commute every morning. It's been in the 40s the last few days but that's just an excuse to wear the leathers. I'm always surprised how well the blade starts in the cold compared to my vfr800fi

Gunk After a few weeks of inactivity due to being distracted with other projects with my son, I fired up the the old girl at 6 this morning, flicked on the twin headlamps, and enjoyed a brilliant early morning ride. Mainly empty roads, the sun came up during my ride and it was a truly stunning morning.

Re: What have you done to/for your bike today?

Took way longer than I thought since I wanted to retain my trunk. The money shot is really from the rear with the new plate placement, will post a picture when I take one. Still have to get rid of those damn red levers.

Happy to cut off the previous owners hackery, god, it was bad. Have to do some finishing sanding but got tired and put it back together, will get around to it one day...
Took off a good half pound of plastic I would say, will weigh and report back. Should be race bike once I install my magnesium valve cover.

might want to measure clearances at full lock. you might need a different reservoir for the brakes as it doesn't look like it'll fit under the fairing stay. i thought about risers but the stock position is a lot more comfortable than those junk clipons that were on.

Just rode it from my house to the office and then back to my house. I ride my bike daily for my daily commute to work.

Re: What have you done to/for your bike today?

Well, tested the voltage from the stator with it disconnected and engine running. 16v from two poles, 1.8 from the 3rd, so the stator is shot. Replaced it, and approx 20v at idle rising with revs, but still only just charging. Seemed both the stator and RR were fried, I guess the RR fault overloaded the stator and burnt it out. I'd got a 2nd hand RR off ebay but had to swap the plug over. Any how its seems to be all ok now. Just goes to show that the bench continuity tests don't always show a fault that you get with a component when its under load.

skant153 Finally found a stock set of clipons to replace the ugly ones, they even had the bar ends! They're about 3/4" taller but have a slightly sharper downward angle. In the end the hands sit probably 1/2" higher. Also got rid of the junk grips for some progrips. Continuing the "red" aluminum delete, replaced the levers with black ones.

Anywho, clipons and levers for sale... Lol
