Re: Suggestions ???????

When I had the Bandit, I did have an instance of a couple of bad new plugs. I did an oil & filter change, air filter change and plugs. Bike idled OK, but ran like crap with any load, same as yours.

This wasn't injected so I didn't have all the puter stuff to check. A pal told me to put the old plugs in again 'cause he had had a bad one on a twin one time. Put the old ones back in, ran great. Put in the new ones again and ran it for a few minutes with choke on, and 1 & 4 pipes were cool. Removed the plugs again and reinstalled, but switched 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. Ran again and this time 2 & 3 were cool. I put the old ones back in and went to the dealer with the two bad plugs and he switched them with no issues. He said it's uncommon, but it does happen. Just my freekin luck though to get 2 out of 4 bad plugs.

Re: Suggestions ???????

How about having two of the plug wires mixed up (i.e. cylinders two and three)?

Re: Suggestions ???????

Could also be a pinched fuel line that allows only enough fuel to let it idle to reach the injectors ?

Re: Suggestions ???????

If you are using Iridium plugs (like say NGK or Denso) you can't gap them. In fact it tells you in the service manual, if the gap is off, to toss the plug....

Re: Suggestions ???????

I had a loose connection on one of my plugs. Didnt get the connector snapped right back onto the plug boot when I had it out. It idled fine, and then when you tried to get on it hard it would missfire.

Take the boots all back off, check your connectors, try again.

I suppose it could be a bad plug, but not likely for brand new ones.
Also you might have knocked off a vac. line while you were doing something under there.

Re: Suggestions ???????

Might be something with the program or a sensor too! Sometimes they just happen to show up when you do something like that and so you think it's something you did. Definately double check your work and the GAP on the plugs (never trust pregapped as accurate - if the box got dropped it can close it). If the gap is too small it would idle fine and then bog when you had more fuel! After making sure you didnt' cause the problem look in to the controller and sensor issues. I would guess either bad gap, bad plug or bad wire.

Re: Suggestions ???????

Probably a bad wire but I only know about 3 mechanical things and I already forgot what they were. Buh?

No, they come pre-gapped. My biggest problem with it being the plugs is that it runs and idles fine. Right up until I start to go. Then it seems as if it's missing. I would think that if it were missing, it would be missing all the time.
