i have a similar issue with my '03 but i chose to buy a used motor then attempt a repair. just plain easier!! however the engine im lookin at is a 2002 w/ 4000 miles on it. good idea?? same motor right??

the lower block ended up getting chipped after my accident and now the stator cover doesnt sit fluch with the crank case. all of my oil spilled out as well but i never thought of the the engine possibly seizing up. i guess i'm glad i didnt attempt a repair.

If this really is a serious post? wouldnt your standard wiring loom be ok if you "only" seized your engine? or did the bike catch fire and burn to the ground after "The engine oil exploded out of the stator" ?

If it ran out of oil then the crank, rods, case oh hell everything is toast. Why didn't you just buy a complete engine with harness ready to go? It could end up costing a lot more if you need to buy parts from honda.

954 Engine...What Will I Be Missing?

Hye everybody. Couple of problems for ya....

1. I'm piecing together a 954 engine (hopefully!) and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into what I may need to pick up on top of the items that are being shipped. I'm getting an entire lower block from someone (pistons, crank, rods, bearings, etc.) and an engine head (valves, intake,etc.). Now I'm not a mechanic, so I'm just basing this guess on limited knowledge, but in theory, I should have an entire engine block correct? Will I need wiring harnesses and such? Can I order them from Honda?

2. The reason I ask all of the above - my engine seized after a pretty hard bail. The stator cover blew out and the flywheel sustained a direct hit. I got the engine running fine after (it was a little slow because the engine oil basically exploded out of the stator while running) the bail, and I rode for about an hour worth of riding time, and the engine locked on me at about 75km/h. Anyone have any educated guesses on the problem? Crankshaft bent? Maybe just bearings on the crank? Let me know. Thanks in advance for any responses.
