Re: fork bearings? Took my forks out to get them revalved/resprung and lo and behold the head bearings were knackered. Definite notch in dead centre position. Didn't notice it with mass of wheel adding inertia to the steering. Damper hides it even better. New bearings in now. |

Re: fork bearings? How many miles does your bike have on it? I havent checked lately, but with 11k and lately the bikes steering feels heavy at slow speeds I think the steering head bearinngs are suspect. (with tire pressure is set correctly) It shouldnt be too hard to adjust. You have to remove the top triple and snug the bottom ring, then the above locking ring. Pretty simple actually. |

Re: fork bearings? Steering head/stem bearings...Best thing you could do is order a service manual. If no one comes through with some instructions I will try and locate my manual and post my findings tommorrow. |

Re: fork bearings? today when getting my bike dyno'd the guy told me my fork bearings were lose (if i remember correctly) then he had me sit on the bike and showed me as he pulled the front wheel a few times and you could see the forks move in/out a hair. he showed me under the upper triple where i could use a punch or something to spin the nut of sorts around and tighten it. he said if it spun more than a hair i would probably want to remove the upper triple and make it a more complete job. my question is: can anyone give me simple instructions on how to do this? and also what is the torque setting for this? bike in question is a 2000 cbr 929. |
