Nope! Not me. Try again!

Re: freakin cops

The officer should have had the common sense to handle this a different way. Every officer knows that the cash register is the most often videotaped area of any business. Just requesting a quick look at the tape would have solved this right away.
Obviously the girl has a problem with the police judging by her attitude. But its no different than a lot of folks who have family members serving time in prison. Note: I did say a lot of folks, not everyone. Her actions probably pushed the officer over the edge. The officer was unfortunately TOO close to the edge already.
$60k for this incident? That seems to be a small price to pay to get rid of an officer before he does something very, very, very wrong. The pepper spray will go away but the girls opinion of officers will not.
The first thing I learned in LE is that you have to put your emotions aside and listen. Sometimes letting the person ramble on will help you more than laying hands on them.
I'm glad the chief of police took the appropriate action in firing this guy.

edit; Oh ya, and I'm the same ****wad that wants Muslims to denounce terrorism in the name of jihad or face going back to their country of heritage.

Re: freakin cops

...I would however suggest changing the title of your thread from "Cops" to "Cop"...We all know that not all "cops" abuse the power they have and most do a damn fine job unlike this incident.

Maybe then you'd get a few of the Leo’s to throw in their two cents...

Just a suggestion...carry on.

Re: freakin cops

This was not something related to his beat. He was a consumer. The chick acted like an a$$ but as a public servant with a position of authority, one needs to show restraint in certain situations. Trying to arrest a chick over $10 when he has no frigging evidence that he gave here the $20, and then pepper spraying her is pure BS.

I know if I was on the jury he wouldn't have gotten a not guilty vote from me. He assaulted her from a position of authority, plain and simple. The sad part is we paid for his BS actions and he gets off scott free to abuse his position of authority in the future.

I'd guess her term of arrest was measured in the amount of time it takes to get processed.

Any LEO on here is welcome to come pepper spray me and lock me up for an afternoon if I get a check for $60k afterwards. Hell, today only, I'll do it for $30k.

A buddy of mine just got pepper sprayed at the CHP academy, he said it wasn't too bad, but that some people do react worse than others.

Agreed, and some people would actually try to incite the cops to persue such a paycheck. If a cop works in the hood and is always confronted w/ expletives, disrepect, and combativeness he would surely be pleased to speak to a person who is well spoken, respectful, and courteous. The b!tch comes out cursing and screaming instead of talking to the LEO in a calm, courteous manner and explaining he was wrong. I noticed all the resident LEOs that everyone slurps on regularly have stayed out of this thread but I'd imagine they'd agree that they are more willing to have an adult conversation with someone who is calm, collected, and well spoken than w/ someone who IMMEDIATELY comes out berrating them w/ F this, F that, F that cop etc etc.

Good point about the manager too. Where the F was he during all this? That is his employee and he's responsible for her actions(unfortunately).

In the US? Damn near never I'd guess. EVERYONE knows they just got themselves a big paycheck if a cop does something like that.

Does anyone else find it humourous that McDonald is giving beats to Wendy's? There's a joke in there someplace.

I wonder how often similar instances occur and are never reported?

Re: freakin cops

A A little information:

Judge upholds rehiring of cop who sprayed girl DAYTON, Ohio — A judge has upheld the reinstatement of a policeman fired after using pepper spray on a worker at a fast-food restaurant.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Froelich ruled Monday that the city is bound by an arbitrator's order to rehire policeman Michael McDonald.

City officials are considering whether to pursue the case, spokesman Tom Biedenharn said Tuesday.

Officer McDonald used pepper spray on Brandy Martin, then 17, while arresting her in February 1998. He said she refused to go with him to his cruiser and receive a summons after he accused her of shortchanging him at the drive-through window.

Officer McDonald, 35, was found not guilty of misdemeanor assault in June 1998. But Police Chief Ronald Lowe fired him a few weeks later, saying OfficerMcDonald's actions were callous and brutal.

Re: freakin cops

I am super white bread.....

If you were an African American woman... in Dayton Ohio, being accused by a white police officer of stealing twenty dollars and you know you did not, you would be very upset too.

#1 he had no right to come back and do what he did.....

#2 he should have called for an officer to be the mediator of the situation

#3 when the manager confirms there is no twenties in the drawer and police continues, the manager should have informed the officer of the camera and suggested to view the video

#4 she should have restrained herself verbally and went along with the officer

#5 this police officer should have lost his job, he was not acting as a public official at the time, but as a consumer and he used the badge to throw some muscle around.

Yes, of course, the cop was unjust in his actions, and yes, he was wrong. And, he deserved some kind of disciplinary action too.
