Thanks for the responses. Went to the Microsoft homepage and downloaded the driver updates for the media player. Everything back to normal. Thanks.

Better directions

OK got to the Start Menu and select Control Panel
In Control Panel select System
In System select Device Manager
In Device Manager there is a section called Sound, Video and Game Controllers this will have the device and drivers. Check there for warning icons and try reinstalling the device.

Its a Dell Inspiron 2650 running Windows XP. Says no audio device under the volume tab.

sounds like a corrupted driver. Try to go to System then Harware and uninstall the audio device. Reboot and see if that helps

What kinda laptop? What OS are you running?

computer help

My laptop has no sound.....my speaker icon is gone from the lower right portion of my screen and when I go to control panel and try to change the volume via "change speaker settings" it says "no audio device." WTF....any help?
