The TRD off-road package came as a stepside here I think only in 02-03. Makes the Tonka-toy box even smaller, but it looks damn good.

That's powdered sugar. We also have a lake of stew, and of whiskey too. You can paddle all around them in a big canoe.

If they'd just stuck the new motor in the old truck and cleaned up the grille a bit I'd like it more.

Here's a pic of a 2003 that I sold to my best friend when I worked at a TOyota store... this is my favorite truck ever:

Flareside?!?!? ...I couldn't even find a dealer with one, nevermind one that would haggle with me on it.

The old Taco was a little too small for me - but if they had made the seats a little deeper and the roofline a hair taller - with that new motor, and leave the overall styling enough to recognize it as a Taco - they could have put a straw mat as a bed and I'd still have bought it.

Have you seen how utterly useless the backseats really are on the quad cabs now? at first I thought "cool, compartments!" then I realized I have nothing that fits in them...and nothing cubical to put above the now folded down seats.

If I were buying a pickup right now, It'd be a 2006 Chev extended cab 4x4 with the 5'8" box and 4.8L. Not because it's my favorite but because I could get it dirty dirt cheap. (think 7500 under invoice ) Plus, it's an old design in its last year, which is ideal IMO.
Your first statement nailed it, I don't think my collection of bikes and **** I own even weighs 1500#

Im there with ya on the Chebby. I eyed the Avalanches for a bit and saw some 'deals' but nothing enough to make me jump ship. 7500$ under invoice on a truck in its last model year?..where do I sign.
Reasoning like that almost got me into a Tundra...almost.

I should add in here that I'm not jabbing @ you Phobe with the Taco. statement as my -1- right after I just accused you of being Taco-villa. Really it suprises me I did not get one, but it came down to Toyota being too proud ($$$) of a product that really could have withstood another year in development. I am almost pissed about this fact. I've owned 3 Toyota trucks and had good experiences - and I expected the new Taco to pick up where the last gen left off. Yet it seems when they clean sheeted the new one, they focused on chest thumping over true functionality. IMHO their last gen was more of a useable truck then the current gen, for whatever you wanted to do with it. I saw m.y. 2005 come and the growing pains for them and the new model, but then I see 06's show up with little to no changes, like WTF? No I didn't expect them to fire that ass that sold them the idea for the Colorado fenders, but at least do something about your @#$# tailgate reputation and make the bed a bit more functional with some hooks/lighting/locks/etc. They think putting that 20$ 110Vac inverter out back is the greatest thing in the planet. Yay I can use my make-up mirror and cuisinart on the side of the road while waiting for my friends to show up and put my bike back in the truck since I broke my tiedown mounts off 3 miles ago and yardsaled my ramps across I-95, Im elated.
I know..I get too worked up about the bed in that truck, but just drives me nuts they took an awesome truck with a terrific bed system and had to 'improve' it. I'll save my rant about the quad cab for another time, like....never cause I don't care anymore, hell I think I'll pick up some 4x8 sheets of plywood tomorrow and lay them down flat in the bed - just because I can

Re: How do _you_ rotate tires?

Heres a few things you probably didn't know....since I can whore my own thread

-1- RL RTS was a fat 2k less then I could get the Tacoma I wanted for, both models were on the lot also. Did I mention the RL tailgate doesen't come in a V model
-2- Unlike most of other Honda AWD vehicles, the RL starts in AWD and meters off from there as it sees fit. Most others start in FWD and migrate to AWD.
-3- Digital climate control: has a solar sensor metering the solar input to driver cabin. More sun = more cooling in the summer, less heating in the winter; to reach setpoint.

I'll launch an actual dedicated thread once I've had some real seat time with it. Till now its been test drives and thoroughly exploring/measuring/exploiting their model in the showroom and some forums for my knowledge.

If you want to see some other drivers impressions this is a good video

Ya I'm all about the Tacoma but I would like to hear from someone who bought a Ridgeline... not a magazine.
