Re: The common cold!!

I just knew I shouldn't have opened this thread yesterday! Sure as snortin' I've gone through an entire box of Kleenex now.

WARNING...rhinoviri are imbedded in this thread.

Re: The common cold!!

If you want to get rid of it for half a day and don't require human contact eat half a raw onion. I do this for hockey and the like. Has always worked for a bunch of hours. Did not notice any shortening of the cold duration though. Just a quick fix.

Open a swab in the morning, first sign of a cold. Use it. Keep the little sleeve with the residual gel (you can use a clean Q-Tip out of the medicine cabinet to administer the remaining gel two more times that day, noon and night).

I came down with a sniffle mid-day Monday. I've been using these swabs on my SO's recommendation since. Today I am symptom free.

I rarely take any medicine whatsoever, but I swear by this stuff.
Doesn’t look like I can get this stuff on this side of the broader!!

Feeling a bit better today though.

Re: The common cold!!

Alka Seltzer Cold & Sinus does it for me every time. Just went through one, and without it I would have been sucking wind!

Have to give another for Zicam. I use the nasal gel instead of the swabs.
Either are fine. Also, the best anitoxidant to ingest is pomogranite juice or eat pomogranites (They are in season now). But also, a lot or rest helps a great deal.

Re: The common cold!!

I had it asthma as a child. I mentioned it to a friend who was a pulmonary specialist, and he casually remarked, "Well, it will come back when you're old and kill you."

<--- Dayum.

The drugs have gotten much better though, so if I make it that long, I'm not worried.

Re: The common cold!!

Echinichea and 2000mg of Vitamin C every 2 hours. If that doesn't cure you, you probably have HIV.

Jack & Coke

[edit] lots and lots of Jack and Coke

[edit to the edit] Nevermind, that's just my normal daily routine. +1 for the OJ but I add 1000mg vitamin C pill to the mix each morning.

Lots of fluids. Water, tea. During the day I'll take a Sudafed. At night I can't take anything with the Sudefed ingredient, the pseudoephedrine HCl. Even the ones that claim to make you drowsy, like Nyquil. That stuff wires me and I cannot sleep.
