Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

A failure on one can cause the other to fail; I have never heard of it happening right off the bat. The other fails because it is being asked to do more to compensate for the other.

Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

If the stator is bad then it will fry the rectifier.
Whether it'll do so in two minutes or two weeks I don't know.
There must be plenty of people on here that have replaced one without checking the other.
I would guess within a few weeks but it may damage it immediately for all I know.
Just check the stator before you hook it up.

Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

I have the new one on and I havnt started it yet. If anything is still wrong will the rectifier fry right away or would it get really hot again then goes bad.

Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

I took it to canyon honda a couple weeks back and had them diagnos it and the tech said he thinks the stator got hot and melted the connector and made a couple of the wires touch and thats what he thinks happened. So just replace the part thats burnt with the same gauge wire. And I just installed a new stator before this happened

Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

This happened exactly how you explained it, and the stator was pouched too. Definitely check your stator too.

The wires to the stator or to the harness?
Make sure you check the stator as well before replacing the rectifier or you might just burn out the new one as well.

Re: Replacing rectifier need some help..

I'd replace the wire (it looks better) but would not use thicker wire. All you do is move the issue to the next weakest point and worse things could happen.

Replacing rectifier need some help..

My cbr900's rectifier fried and took about 6 inches of 3 of the wires and the connector so I was wondering if I should just replace like 8 inches of the wire or all of it through the harness. Maybe even put a bigger gauge wire on it. Let me know Thanks.
