smkeatr: Yeah, they sent me in for xrays. The odd part was that my hip appeared fine of nearly a week - then that's what came out. From looking fine to looking nasty in less than 12 hours so the doctors were a little concerned that I might have fractured something. Fortunately I didn't.

Soon2b954: I was crusing along in the fast lane during rush hour traffic at about 15 - 20 miles an hour. I shoulder checked to start lane splitting, but when I looked back up the truck in front of me had his brakes on. I wasn't very close to him -- I just over reacted and grabbed a mitten full of brakes. The ground was pretty slick (fortunately) so I didn't endo - instead the tire swept out from underneath me. I was going about 35 - 40 I figure when I went down.

The only scary part was sliding along for those few seconds looking back at the car's headlights behind me wonder...are they stopping? It's tough to tell when you're skidding along on your back
Glad to hear the x-rays were negative. Sounds like you were fortunate not to get run over.

Re: Wanna see my bum?

I got one exactly like that when I was t-boned in a YSR race. I was even wearing Helimot's super duper hip pads at the time.

As I remember it the pain/tenderness didn't last long. But it did continue to change colors for weeks...from deep reds and browns, through purple, and finally some nice blues/greens/yellow.

Glad you're relatively Ok.

Bacchus, dude, I did the same thing too...downhill, too fast and then an ass-plant. It hurt like heck for a long time and the bruise took a very long time to go away. It did turn lots of pretty colors, though.

Symonjester, quick healing. Glad it wasn't worse. Get yourself checked out just to be safe. That's one heluva bruise.

Re: Wanna see my bum?

Did you get your pelvis and your leg x-rayed? That looks like it still hurts.

Re: Wanna see my bum?

The 54 has some pretty good stock brakes. I lofted the rear unintentionally when I first got it. Can you still ride?

Re: Wanna see my bum?

That looks like it was a rather nasty spill. Glad you came out of it in one piece, albeit a rather nasty one piece.
