At the request of some other members, I am posting some pictures of an AMT/Ertl 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon model.
Since this is going to be an overhead 'light fixture', I got the more durable (but slightly
less detailed) snap-tite model.
It has 50, 5mm LEDs (6 orange, 44 white) and 6, 10mm LEDs (all white).
30 of those 5mm white LEDs compose the engine.
Two gutted 'wall-mart' power adapters power three separate circuits.
Engine LEDs has it's own circuit, 5mm white LEDs have theirs and the orange ones have theirs. Both 5mm circuits are on one adapter.
Internal wiring and soldering.
Underside quarter view. Sorry for graininess; cell phone camera.
Underside cockpit side view. the two LEDs on either side of the entry ramp are two of the 6, 10mm LEDs. Two more are on the exact opposite side.
Front view. The center LEDs are two of the 10mm ones.
I don't have a close up of them but I also cut out the plastic where the five circular engine vents and put pieces of drywall sand paper (they look just like small grilles). You can see from the guts picture that they are right over the two power adapters which allow any heat they produce to cool better.
I will also be hanging up two Action Fleet Micro Machines (similar scale) Bespin Cloud Cars up on the ceiling behind and beside it to simulate it being escorted into Bespin.
As well I also have a 1/72 scale model of Slave 1 which I'm considering hanging on the wall behind all of them to simulate Boba stalking them as well.
Unfortunately I still have not hung it up as I have yet to find an appropriate mount, or come up with any fabrication ideas for one. I need one that will allow me to turn and pitch it at different angles.
