Saved someone's life today

Stopped him for not wearing a helmet in the valley with heavy traffic all around. To top it off, he had an attitude. It gets better, he's mad and says the base ball cap he's was wearing would protect him should he fall as his head wouldn't get skinned off!

He has 6 weeks until his court date.

they can't get away from us this time."

What the hell is a baseball cap going to do when you either headbutt the pavement or the back of a cage etc

Well done

Devildog,
I am thinking that maybe you just prolonged the inevitable.. Some people just refuse to learn, not only from their own mistakes, but from others as well. Not to take away from your glow.

Some people won't learn until its too late and you can't go back to change it.

Did you just give him a ticket and let him go, or did you tow his bike?

We had a trauma patient who had a baseball cap on and was working with lumber. A tree limb fell and poked through his skull and pushed his baseball cap down into his brain. He acutally survived. Who knows, without those pieces of baseball cap in his brain he may not have

Okay, I see quite a lot on my job but I can't say I could see what you do as often as you do I'm sure. Thank God only once last year did I have to go to a 'stinker' (dead body investigation when the body had been rotting for awhile). And it was in the summer, of course. As soon as we got up to the door, you could smell it. Open the door and, bam, out come the flys in waves. I went in on point on that one, held my breath, looked around, saw the one week old stinker female, turned around, pushed my way through my partner and Sgt and just about vomited. When I had seen the body, the female had blown up to probably twice her size, the panties she'd been wearing looked as if they absorbed into her skin. Her body was black and covered in maggots. Needless to say, I became a vegetarian again for about a week. Damn, now that I think about it, my job sucks just as much

Okay, who wants a bloody bovine burger. I'm cooking!

Hey at least if mine are dead when they get there, they are freshly dead... Occasionally burnt and disfigured but no, uh, stinkers as you describe them...

Re: Saved someone's life today

There's a Harley rally in town this weekend that I'm working at. Tonight I saw probably hundreds of riders without a helmet. Yeah, it's legal here, but I just shake my head every time I see folks with no lid (every day ).
I guess if you're dumb enough to ride without a helmet, your head isn't worth protecting...
