Terrible article, full of mistruths, including dangerous ones like fairings are for "speeding over 100 miles per hour".

It would be cool if some of the naked bikes were really naked versions of the sportbikes.

So you're saying if I get a Sato, you're good to go?

Re: Funny (but interesting) mainstream media story on naked bikes...

the only "true" naked bike thats related to its sportbike brother that I know of is the Tuono... It is a naked Mille... Same frame geometry, same brakes, same suspension...

If the FZ1 was that, or if the 919 style bike was that, it'd be awesome...

No, I'd like a 04 Stock R1 set of pipes, they'd make your or my bike go Mach 1 for 10 miles then they would explode.

The real quote is as follows...
"low handle bars and foot pegs designed so the rider can almost lie down over the gas tank as the bike speeds over 100 miles an hour."
... Uh... it's still erroneous but if we're going to jump up and down waving our arms, lets be factual. The low handle bars were designed partly to get our heads out of the wind at high speed I suppose but the foot pegs? I thought they were raised so we wouldn't drag our flashy, one piece boots.

The plastic fairings comment, "mimic racing bikes that have plastic fairings," was in reference to our repli-racers that "mimic racing bikes that have plastic fairings", not in reference to the next comment.

We've had this argument before willi, but I'm able to go at it again.

I'd say the FZ is at least "related" to the R1. Heck, its first-gen R1 mill is literally lifted from the Y-bike, side-draft carbs installed (only because of space considerations relative to the machine's airbox) and shoehorned into the tubular Fizzer frame.

The Speed Triple really is pretty darned close to a naked Daytona 955i too, in fact, it's alot closer to its genealogical father than my FZ is.

But I understand the spirit and intent of your post. The Tuono is indeed the closest thing to a full-chat superbike with some plastic removed that you can buy.

If you consider the mille a superbike, then the tuono is also. Its identical, not just "related".
