Re: Gmail

I'm a long time Yahoo user, at least for web based free-mail. Looks like I'll be switching over as soon as Google's up and running though.

Re: Gmail

I'd wait a month or two. Let them work the kinks out. After that, however, I'm sure it'll be top notch. Many people will be taking advantage of the mailbox size for attachment purposes. I wonder if they'll have a limit on how big an attachment can be.

Re: Gmail

As I understand it, the attachment size limit will be 10 Mb, pretty damned decent, if you ask me.

No one seems concerned about the privacy issue here?

No more of a privacy issue than any other free e-mail service, I would think...

Re: Gmail

But don't they scan every email and target you with adds related to the content of your message....?

... maybe they censor out all the bad words too ...

Fish on.

I'm sure there are privacy agreements that you should read before signing up for any of these.

Re: Gmail

The way I look at it is, if I use free e-mail services, I don't send confidential information. Who cares if they want to mine my porn, junkmail and quick "hi" e-mails. They can even mine my e-vites and forum newsletters. About the only thing private in my current junk e-mail account may be the odd password where I have signed up for this or that forum.

Keep your confidential in a confidential location.

The bottom line is, nothing is for free. You always pay for it somehow. In this case... you pay with content and statistics collection.

Re: Gmail

Sooner or later encryption will be a way of the past as well. Not any time soon, but soon enough. Crazy? Nope. Check out the quantum computers! Once they can harness that power into useable computation, numbers will be crunched faster than you could imagine.

Re: Gmail

www.hushmail.com

I used it about 2 years ago, it's all encrypted but I'd bet $ that charge now, maybe not.
