Look what I got to ride alongside yesterday...

A couple friends are on new bikes this year. One brought home a Ducati 749R (same lucky dog from my post in the RC General forum earlier this a.m.) and another is the proud owner of a new ZX-10R.

The Duc is LOUD for a street legal motorcycle. I can't fathom how it gets past EPA noise emission standards. Sounds like a washing machine full of box-end wrenches, but oooh, is it cool!

The 10R is unholy fast. Aside from a very pretty metalflake black paint job, it's fairly ugly in person (first time I've seen one), but the bike's ability to reel us in under any circumstances, any speed, and in any gear was nothing short of astonishing.

Just thought I'd share.

Never a big Kawi fan but the new 10r is pretty sweet looking at least in the pics (never saw it in person). The Duc is pretty sweet looking too just not a big fan of the price tag $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Re: Look what I got to ride alongside yesterday...

In the past year there is something very very sexy I have found about the italian twins. Ducs specifically. However, I don't think I could tolerate the ergos to actually buy one.

Sweet pics. I saw a ZX10 the other day, and I have to admit that I liked it. Slipper clutch and wave rotors. 164 hp. That is a machine that needs to be respected.

What, you got a problem with the MSRP of $21,995?

He didn't pay that (he works in the industry), but he still paid alot...

the 749R doesn't have "stock" type cans... Those are opened up race cans on it...

It's totally street legal and has a "stock" resonator (despite the look, it's a box shaped muffler under there). He's got a full Ti-tubed system with carbon fiber resonator coming from Termignoni though. ($$$)

Actually, the ergos are a lot more friendly on the 999/749 than they were on the 916/996/996/748. The seat and pegs are both adjustable.

Oh, that ZX10 looks good!!!! All black!!! I agree 1000% to whoever made that statement of a bike to be respected. Must stop looking at pics of ZX10, must stop any thought of...

Thanks for the pics.

Re: Look what I got to ride alongside yesterday...

Great pics as always The ZX10r does nothing for me looks wise.. I did sit on it on the motorcycle fair here in Norway, but I still find it pretty unsexy. The Euro turn lights makes it look better, but it still doesn't do it for me.. I'm not questioning how fast it is though... I bet it's plenty fast

Y'know, I think I read that or was told that by someone ... but after feeling out those clip-ons, whoa! Might as well have bolted them to the front axle. I think I could ride that bike for about ten minutes before my neck failed me.

Just sat on a 998 (Matrix Reloaded Model ) and a 749. The 998 is tons more comfy.
