mmm, beef jerkey!!

well, I was bored today and being a jerkey junky I decided it was time to give it a shot for myself rather than pay 6 bucks for 4 ounces. I went online and got a couple of different recipes for jerkey and went at it. It should be done in 6-10 hours. I'll let ya know how it turns out. I do know it smells very good!! Here's a picture of my oven being taken over by jerkey!

Re: mmm, beef jerkey!!

We, er...ahh, my wife has been making jerky for years like that. It's good that you are doing that, because I have found that I've gotten at least 5+hp on my bike after eating it, and you should too!

Serious mode on ~~~~~~~~~

Good for you. Making it at home is so convenient and cheap compared to store prices.

PM me and let's trade recipes.

Re: mmm, beef jerkey!!

I've got a drier specifically for making jerky. No messing with the oven, and it takes half the time.
Homemeade jerky........mmmmmmm.
Guess I know what I'll be doing later today now.

Yeah, Ronco type dehydrator is the way to go if you are going to do much. But thanks for posting, I have to run to the butcher to get some meat now....

Re: mmm, beef jerkey!!

Good job 2k2! I'll have to look into that myself. I love making homemade chit - salsas and hot sauces and such. But are you sure your pic isn't of some kind of entrails?! J/K

Re: mmm, beef jerkey!!

Hmmmmm...homemade beef jerky! HondaGal has a dehydrator and she makes some, too! She makes it using Yashida's sauce that she gets at Costco, or one of those type of clubs. That's her secret sauce! We always coerce her into making some when a bunch of us go on a long motorcycle trip. Yum!

Edit: What kind of meat do you guys use? She uses flank steak, I think.

Re: mmm, beef jerkey!!

Did the house grocery shopping and Top Round Roasts 2.09 a pound only!!!

They sliced the roasts for free.....

Picked up three roasts, some worsterser (sp) sauce, liquid smoke, soy, garlic powder, fresh black pepper, brown sugar... Let it soak up for three hours

and in to hour 4 of its oven time and ohhh my the smells coming from the house.
