Re: Gee, ya think?

Nice to know that kids these days have all these new age, touchy feely syndromes that therapy and medication can help them overcome.

When I was a kid, this was called "not paying attention". The most common remedy was a quick whack to the back of the head. If symptoms persisted, it usually ended up being a much more intensive, seat-o-the-pants therapy.

Cured me though, I'll tell you that.

Re: Gee, ya think?

Interesting, I remeber watching a TV like crazy when I was a kid and i don't... Hey cartoons are on!

I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just "Crewman Number Six." I'm expendable! I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is! I've gotta get outta here!

Re: Gee, ya think?

My buddy says there's no such thing as ADD, there's just active young kids. And that the therapy should be a cow, and getting up at 4 AM to milk it. See where all the excess energy goes then.

I agree that putting kids to work instead of letting them lounge around all day is important.

Was your buddy joking? ADD is real and it's out there. Just look at all of us on here during a workday...

Re: Gee, ya think?

It was joking...kinda. I (and he) think ADD is much more about the environment lazy parents and junk food create than a real "problem".

Re: Gee, ya think?

I think the Pharma companies make a drug, find the most prevalent side effect, invest millions in disovering the ailment or syndrome that it can treat and then start TV commercials. I get so mad when I see these commercials for meds that don't tell you why you would take it, only, "ask your doctor if ******** is right for you!". Then the fast talking guy, "headaches, diarreah, vomiting, sexual disfunction, loss of sleep, numbness of the extremeties, loss of memory, aggressiveness, and heartburn are possible side effects"

Excellent post!

Most of those commercials get me to thinking, wouldn't I rather just stick with the original illness than suffer through all of those "possible" side effects?

ADD is quite possibly the biggest scam ever invented by the AMA. Oh, it's out there alright. Always has been. Nothing a good swift kick in the ass won't take care of.

Damn new age whiners................
