This civic duty crap is getting really old.

I got called for jury duty, and was assigned to a criminal trial Monday. we deliberated for four hours today, (Tues), rehashing the same crap over and over, and failed to come to an agreement.

Going to try again tomorrow, which is THREE days lost. One of my employees rescheduled his vacation so I could do this. At this rate it will end up being a complete waste of time, because a couple of people are too stubborn or too stupid to make a decision according to the law and the Judge's instructions.

I can't say what the trial is about yet, but it's pretty bizarre. Stay tuned.

Re: This civic duty crap is getting really old.

I understand your frustration. Hang in there.

My previous jury duty experience was thankfully quick. However, as a witness subpoenaed several times (where I had to cancel my business appointments) and got called at the last minute that the trial was delayed or postponed, I've been burned a lot myself. Time is indeed money, and I lost time and wasn't the plaintiff or defendant.

However, I guess this is the best system we got, so I'll live with it.

Jury duty is PITA.

If I'm ever indicted for anyting... ...I'll demand a bench trial.

Re: This civic duty crap is getting really old.

Went through this last summer and experienced the same thing - one, single, boneheaded, illiterate who could not grasp the situation. The rest of us fortunately brow-beat the mutha down after 3 days and the obviously guilty party was found, well, guilty - DUI case, third phock-up within 5 years = automatic felony conviction and 6 months in jail in Arizona. There was so much compelling evidence that it should have been over the first day

I feel your pain... I can't even imagine being selected for one of those really big cases that go on for months.
