As I type this....

... I'm currently on-line wireless at 54mbs from our garage, looking out over our piles of junk in the driveway for sale...

That is SO cool Conq. I will, someday, have a wireless notebook for times when I want to lounge in my easy-chair or to tinker on the bike.

Have a great weekend.

Re: As I type this....

I have a Belkin 802.11G wireless setup too. The only sucky think is when the damn cordless phone rings it kills the wireless connection? WTF is up with that? Anyone got any clues before I throw this router out the window???

You need to work on presentation... don't you have any manequins or display windows hanging around?

Handy little things. Saves me leaving my bed on those cold mornings when I don't want to go to work, just VPN into the office and head in later.

Interference you say. Try changing the channel that either the phone or the Wireless access point operates on. You should be able to make a selection between 1 and 13, I know my Dlink has a default of 6 so steer clear of that if possible to avoid future problems from neigbours. The phone might also rotate through the channels so if it still happens see if you can disable that feature on the phone.

You should be able to use netstumbler to checkout the airwaves in the area and see what is going on to a certain degree. Download here

I have a cordless phone at my place and it doesn't seem to affect my 802.11g network, nor does my microwave. Then again my Wireless card and access point are recently released products with the latest firmware (you could try updating the firmware too so if that allows the access point to handle interferance better, and check for updated drivers and utilites for your wireless card too).

Hang on I think there was an article on 802.11 interference somewhere.....brb.....

Easy chair...fair enough, but what about the porcelain throne? Forget the book, just grab the notebook.
