Windoze question.

OK, when I fired up the 'puter this afternoon I had this on the screen:

The system has recovered from a serious error.

A log of this error has been created.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve
Microsoft Windows. We will treat this report as confidentilal and anonymous.

To see what data this error report contains, click here.

Send error report Don't send

I have seen this before. Is it genuine, or just some dipstick trying to gain access to my computer. So far, I have never answered this window.

Re: Windoze question.

It is a standard error report. If things die, MS tries to capture the debug information... I tend to say "Don't Send" anyway 'cause I can't stand MS.

I agree with you except that I always(happened twice so far on XP) do send the report in hopes that they will create a new update to help rectify the problem that occured.

Most of the time these crashs are a result of a third party program, so microsoft will look at it (MASSIVE assumption that they do look at them) and just say its not their problem.

If it is there problem then they will probably wait until a few people add weight to it before they move thier arses.

Without question Matt. But I feel it's still worth my half second to send the report. Besides, perhaps if enough people send the report, that will get them moving a bit faster on the problem.

If I'm not part of the solution, then I'm part of the problem. Right?

True but its sooooo much more effort to click the Yes button than the No button.

Re: Windoze question.

I always send in the reports, and sometimes actually get pointed to the fixes.

Most of the time its just a program that has nothing to do with MS failed.
But MS still wants to know how and why.

I guess for all the flak they get, we might as well help to point out the problems.
