Re: Anti Virus

I am very happy with my Norton Systemworks 2003. And if your computer doesn't already have it installed, the included Roxio GoBack is a very slick addition.

Re: Anti Virus

It comes down to personal preference.

We've been virus free at work for almost 2 years now.

Faithful McAfee user.
Version 7 is SOOO much nicer and less intrusive than 4.5.

If you are going to do a firewall, do a hardware one. Software ones are a PITA. ZoneAlarm pisses me off. 'This computer is trying to access blablabla website, do you want to let it?'

Block everything except port 80 and don't download questionable shiit. If you do, scan it first.

That was the best race I have ever seeen....

Re: Anti Virus

go with norton. i am a big advocate of companies with customer service that is better than good. Mcafee was just totally horrible. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy (pete)

Re: Anti Virus

Re: Anti Virus

As others have mentioned you first need to pick up a router with built in firewalling. I have a Linksys as well. I would go with that or the Netgear stuff (I don't care for D-Link or any of the other cheaper brands).

As for AV, I would personally go with Norton. I had a customer who used McAfee for their entire office and it did not keep them from getting Code Red, nor could it identify the fact that they had it, even after it was updated to the latest and greatest code. I talked them into at least downloading the trial version of Norton and it picked up on Code Red right away. They now use it as their AV solution.

The only difference is has no tech support.
If you want support, you have to buy AVG.

Works great, all my Professors use it, tech TV recommended, yada yada.

AutoUp-dates, Email scan, and everything.
