Re: I Need Firepower

Well, you could ask Grumman to sell you an F-14 Tomcat with heat seakers, radar guided Pheonix missiles and one hewlluva gattling gun, not to mention giving the birds a heart attack when you do the Mach 2.1 fly by...

I have one of these units - just pull down on the barrel, close it, and it is cocked and ready to go. I forget the fps of my model, but it is over 1,000 fps I think.

The gun, while giving you a certain amount of statifaction while getting rid of your bird problem, may not be the most effective solution. I believe there are ultrasonic systems that you can set and forget, and are quite effective at driving and keepings birds away.

Have a search and see if you come up with something on google.

This is America, we like using guns to solve problems.

If you never try anything new, you'll miss out on many of life's great disappointments.

I've spent the past 1/2 hour looking for my gun purchase papework, to no avail. I think the rifle I have was around $200+ back in '98-'99.

Re: I Need Firepower

Here's what I have and I'll tell ya, it's the best air rifle I've ever owned or ever will. My father in law gave it to me and it was his as a boy, so it's probably 30+ years old. I've often thought about buying a new one. Anyhow, very very accurate and pretty high FPS for an air rifle. Not the cheapest, but probably one of the better in it's price range.

Re: I Need Firepower

Instead of air guns and the like, why not consider getting some cracker shells for the 12 ga I'm guessing you own (everyone owns a 12 ga, right?).

Cracker shells are shotgun shells containing a projectile designed to explode about 50-75 yards from the point of discharge - they are WAKE THE DEAD loud. Conservationists, Park Rangers and even hunters employ them (the latter to scare off bears).

We use them at work for specialized tactical training. Even when you know they're coming, they scare the hell out of you...

That's what the corner workers at Grattan use to keep the wildlife off the track when they run out of bottle rockets . . .

and your girlfriend too.
