Steering Dampinur

Funny, steering damper didn't make the list of the top 100 most mispronounced words. I guess because it's misused and not mispronounced.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/library/mispron.html

Which ones are you guilty of?

To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Re: Steering Dampinur

You mean it's not nuc-u-lar?

"Chomp at the bit" is the only one I see that I do.

For some reason the Arctic one is a peeve of mine, I hate it when I hear ar-tic...where did I put those pills?

HERE HERE! However I think you meant that it doesn't have 2 U's in it. It does have 1. It's just not "nukyuler"

Man, I remember in high school I had a chemistry teacher, of all people, mispronounce nuclear every single day....Do you know how many times that word is used in a chemistry class? She probably said "Nuculus" like 20 times a day.....I almost killed myself.

terty tree and a turd . . .

Needless to say, he commanded little respect from the bunch of whackos in that class . . .

You have to be really lost in the back woods to hear that.

How come most of you Clevelanders say "staahr" and "caahr"? It's a really faaaahr drive in the caaahr and we eat dinner with a faaahrk.

Yeah, the Israelis can't pronouce "th" either, but then again, none of us Americans could pronounce their hock-a-goober sound.

Not really, have you ever been to Spartanburg, SC? That's where they make BMWs and package the "tar arns" in the "Spar tar kit" . . .

Re: Steering Dampinur

There's no "Chomp at the bit"???? Doesn't that mean like a horse chomping at the bit...you know, ready to go?

And there's no such thing as a card shark? A person very adept at either legally or illegally beating you at cards?

You don't pronounce the "T" in Often? Offen? WTF???

Re: Steering Dampinur

One of my top pet peeves made the list.
I absolutely hate it when morons say "heigth". I have actually made decisions on business dealings due to the use of that non-word.
