Re: Tread running low on truck tires...
This was the most difficult car buying negotiation I've had to go through. They really made me work for it. Took me 2 different dealers, and 3 days total, but I got it for $5k off the sticker. (Which was the invoice price, according to CarPoint.com.) Then another $1000 off for the Ford Rebate.
They like playing with numbers. Giving you more for your trade, but basing it off the MSRP of the new truck. He had already said they would give me what my payoff was for my old truck (which was about $1k more than KBB allowed for it). So I had him there. Now we had to start working on the price of the new truck, since the old one was a wash, and it was basically as if I had no trade at all. After walking out TWICE (on 2 different days), they finally called me and gave it to me for invoice.
EDIT: On a side note, the salesman was a really nice guy, and after talking for a while we found that we had some mutual friends, and had actually met in the past. I feel bad that the "little guy" has to suffer for me getting a good deal though. He works on commission only, and for my deal he only gets $50 flat since they bottomed out the price. I'm going to send him a gift card so he can take his fiance out or something.
