WinTV alternative

Just curious if anyone else watches TV on their PC and what software program they use. Are there any other programs that will capture from the card?

No matter how beautiful a woman may be, some man somewhere is sick of her sh!t.

Re: WinTV alternative

I have a Linux-based HTPC. Couple of PCI DVB cards: DVB-S satellite card with a smart card reader for my pay TV subscription (Canal Digital) and DVB-T for FTA terrestial broadcasts. Software is VDR with some nice features: OSD driven (no mouse/keyboard needed), can work with practically any remote (I have a cheap universal remote for this), no Digital-to-analog conversion during record (records direct MPEG-2 stream when used with DVB-T), records several channels concurrently, can use regexps to pick to pick my favourite subjects from EPG (Electronic Program Guide) eg. records automatically subjects I'm interested in (yes, everything with "motorcycling").

Takes quite much Linux knowledge and tweaking to get working, works best with digital television (though analog is possible) and beats the living **** out of everything available for windows
