Re: Boise, ID trip

Joan and I just got back late last night from our 8 day trip to Boise. It is a very laid back and beautiful area. While there, bwhip and I, along w/his daughter and her friend, did a raft trip down the Payette River. Class 3 and 4 rapids . It was a blast! I only got body-slammed into the bottom of the raft 3 times (fortunately not over the side). bwhip was a great host and took time off from his work to give us an extensive tour of the area. I'm ready for a change, and after 30 years in the Sonoran Desert, this just may be my new home!

If you weighed more than a buck-twenty, that sort of thing wouldn't happen. Go eat a cheeseburger, fries and a shake already!

Re: Boise, ID trip

It was great having our friend Bacchus come up north for a visit. The rafting trip was awesome - I've never seen anyone get catapaulted from the rear of the raft quite that way before! Wish he could have brought the 'Blade - we could have ridden roads like this one:

Re: Boise, ID trip

Thanks ND4! If you ever get a chance to sample any part of Idaho, do it! The place is beautiful - and I only saw a tiny portion of it. And best of all, there are peeps like bwhip who make it all the more worthwhile. I do have a couple of pics from the raft trip, haven't even checked them out yet, much less downloaded them. Give me a little while.

Re: Boise, ID trip

That is a very beautiful area.

I may be doing an iron butt ride next weekend, and may cruise through Idaho - just for braging rights on the number of states I'll hit in one day.

FYI Bacchus, those photos are from today's ride - up river about 15 miles or so from where we rafted. It was an incredible ride from Boise to Banks, up the Payette river to Lowman, and then back down highway 21 to Idaho City and back to Boise (Highway 21 is what we were on the first day when we went up to Lucky Peak Reservoir). About 165 miles total. I must have stopped at least 25 times to shoot photos. The people I passed along the way must have been confused when I passed them, then stopped for photos, then passed them again, etc.

I had a deer prance across the road in front of me at one point, but fortunately I wasn't going very fast so there was no problem.

Next time you come up we'll have to take that trip - it was absolutely spectacular.
