Re: Harley F-150 Silliness...

Sorry to indulge in Harley bashing, but this is so indicative of Harley marketing that I couldn't resist....

I am leafing thru my F-150 owners guide to re-program the doorlocks, and come across this passage....

Notice to owners of the Harley-Davidson F-150
The undercab chrome bars are for decorative purposes only. Do not step on these bars to enter or exit the vehicle.

LMAO.....

Something that is there for looks only, serves no functional purpose and is generally pointless and useless??

Harley peeps wouldn't have it any other way, they wouldn't know what to do with a functional piece of equipment...

form follows function, always has, always will!

Re: Harley F-150 Silliness...

Not to Hardly bash either, oh sorry, Harley bash Greyhound has an anniversary softail (i think that is what it is) and had to change the oil. he said everytime you change the oil, you have to change some kind of gasket also. So he changes the oil and gasket. And this guy has every tool imaginable, and is quite skilled with a wrench. Anyway, he tells me on the phone that the damn thing is leaking and he is going to have to do it all over again. I didn't want to say anything but I have to admit, that sometimes the hype or in this case hate, fits the bill

22 days until it begins...

I think so too....not as sharp as the Lightning, but looks great for a Supercrew imho...

Every time I see one, I wish Ford would make a similar version without the Harley badges....that would be cool, and I bet it would sell.
They have the King Ranch, but its too C&W looking....

He must not be THAT skilled if he cant manage an oil change. I change mine all the time and nothing leaks. No gasket either, just oil and a filter

Re: Harley F-150 Silliness...

Ratter.....you would be suprised at how many Harley owners are on the internet. HD ownership has become a yuppie hobby....primarily as a result of some very effective marketing by HD. They market to the dinks, rubs, yups etc....who in turn try to emulate the notion of a rugged lifestyle....aka posing.

HD was just savvy enough to formulate the equations:

Bored Dink + Leather = $$$

Passive Aggressive Yuppie + Shades *(Straight Pipes) = $$$

Frustrated Suburbanite * (Chrome) = $$$

Low Self Esteem + Black T-Shirts = $$$

That said, I have met some really cool people on Harley's while touring.....but the old road dogs are getting fewer and farther between.....

Honest to Cod, while taking a tour of an HD factory, the tour guide explains that are not making motorcycles....they are building 'Lifestyle Centerpieces'......I kid you not....

I was just generalising, the same way as they all do about us being squids.
Of course I know there are all different types that ride harleys, it the same over here, you get all the hard core bikies, the try hards and then you get the buisness types going through a midlife crisis types, and eveything in between.
And I have heard that some of them even know what the internet is and know how to use it

Do unto others, before some prick does it to you!
