Happy Memorial Day! Fireworks photos

These were taken at the Rock101 Sky Show tonight in Manchester NH. Other than resizing them, they haven't been `shopped.

Enjoy!

Actually, fireworks shots are done the exact opposite of how you would think. These were taken at ISO 200 and f/20 on the bulb setting (shutter speed varied between 3-15 seconds.) The really slow shutter gives you the trails and multiple starburst while the low ISO and small aperature keep the sky black. You do need a tripod, however.

You can really do highspeed. You'll end up with tiny puffs of light and real grainy prints. Plus, if you see something before you take the picture in an action shot...you've already missed your chance to get it on film. You have to anticipate things (that where the bulb setting comes in_ you see a good one going up and hit the release...then you can get the whole explosion from start to finish.)

Thanks!

Your pics aren't anything to be embarassed by. Car shows are tough due to the close proximity of the cars and the people. Good job!
