Hmmm your thoughts on this McAsian site?

I can't remember if this was posted here but I've mulled it over and finally decided I think it's in poor taste. The reason I think this is McDonald's is a global organization and putting up a web site like this reaches globally... Do they really expect this to help business in Asia?? I think the particular phrase that got me was, " Whether we're sipping green tea or enjoying a Big MacŪ sandwich, we're helping make the magic mix called America become even richer."

I'd think the Asian community would find this rather offensive... my asian friends do.

edit: I suppose you want the link.

edit2: Changed subject to be more specific.

Re: Hmmm your thoughts on this McAsian site?

I don't see a problem with the website, and I don't understand why an Asian would be offended. Sure as ****, if the website was www.i-am-american.com and pictured white faces instead of Asians, it would be lawsuits galore. I learned from the website that May was Asian Heritage month, I somehow doubt we'll ever celebrate a white heritage month....too many people would consider it rascist.

Re: Hmmm your thoughts on this McAsian site?

I was looking at it from a non-US Asian's perspective. Can you imagine being in China, eating a Big Mac then reading about how you're an Asian doing your part to make America rich? My point is that the audience of that website is their customers world-wide.

Would you eat at a Restaurant who's motto is "You are our customer and you are doing your part to make ______ (Japan/Canada/France/England) rich."

*shrug* And what is the "Living on the rim" bit about? I haven't heard that term.

Mmmm... Nothing sinister about referencing the Pacific Rim IMHO

haha, no no, I know what the pacific rim is... but aren't they saying that their target market are people living in the US, not living on the rim. *shrug*
