I guess I'm old,I used to have to pick out the belt my dad was gonna use to whoop my ass.The last time I remember a kid getting his ass busted in public for misbehaving,it was me.Now you just hear parents scolding-"now timmy, remember,we had a deal."

Me too. That was worse than the actual whooping. Let's see...will the narrow one or the wide one hurt worse?

Or how about when mom said "just wait until dad gets home!". Oh crap, there's a few hours of stress.

Re: 21st Century Punishment

So why didn't he sell the rest of the beer & the wine instead? The kid wasn't playing virtual drinking games

My mom would say that and my room was above the garage.I would hear the garage door opening and just start crying. My dad would walk in the door after a 14-16hr day and my mom would start in on him-"blah blah blah, you wouldn't believe what he did today...."
my dad-"WHAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!"-then I would hear my dad storming up the stairs, and the rest is just a blank...

Ahhhhhh,good times.

OMG, I remember that like yesterday - happened quite a bit too, I must have been a real PITA. Oh, and my Dad was a carpenter, so the drill was: 1) go wait in the garage, 2) after letting me suffer and wait for 15 or 20 minutes, he would come out, 3) he would slowly and carefully select jusssst the right board, 4) he would then instruct me to drop my pants and bend over the little step ladder, 5) OUCH!!!

Of course today I guess this would be considered child abuse. But damn, it sure was pretty effective.

The "Time outs" just crack me up! What the hell kinda punishment is that? Kids sometimes just need a good ol' fashioned passionate ass whoopin.

Public humiliation seemed to work for my brother and I. Sometime i think my mom took us shopping just to whoop our asses in public.
