XP Home

Anybody have a copy of Win XP home they're willing to put up on an FTP server for me?

I am not asking for a bootleg copy, or a serial number, all I need is the software. I have a machine that needs it re-installed, but the client does not have the CD. 25 digit code is affixed to the case, so I just need the software.

TIA

Re: XP Home

funny you mention that, I was told today that XP can not be loaded more than one additional time (after the initial install) . You can load it, but when your 30 day license free period os over you are hosed

I am sure somebody will correct me, but that is just what I heard from a colleague today

Re: XP Home

You can load it up to 5x on the same machine. After that you can call MS for an unlock code.

Re: XP Home

Call MS or your MS distributor they should have Win XP CDs you can get for $20 or so, its the license that costs the money not the actual CD itself. Or if the computer is from a major dealer (i.e. Dell, HP etc) you might find that the software is on a CD without any MS markings, if no CD, hassle the major dealer for the CD. The are required to provide it with the orginial hardware, if its not there then they will move quick to get it to you with a bit of coaxing.

Re: XP Home

All the above are great suggestions, however I need it done by Sunday. No time for the shipping stuff I think I may have solved it with the help of one of our members. Thanks everyone.

Corporate licenses don't require the Windows Activation, so you can install them as many time as you want (as long as you buy the licences of course ). This makes it easy on corporate IT people (like me) rolling out images, rebuilding PC, and so on with out the hassel of 'Activating' it all the time. Don't know if you can get a corporate license for Home though

I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just "Crewman Number Six." I'm expendable! I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is! I've gotta get outta here!
