Laker fan here (hey, born in Hollywood, what do you expect
), but I admit that my team got out-played, out-hustled, out-coached, etc. I give them credit for getting through San Antonio and Minnesota, but I think they figured Detroit would be easy after those two.
Props to the Pistons (as much as I hate to say it) - they earned it.
I understand why there are so many Laker-haters out there too - same reason I hate the Yankees, Notre Dame, the Cowboys, etc.
Shaq is a freak, but don't tell me he doesn't get fouls against him that don't get called any more often than he plows over people that don't get called either. The guy is just bigger, stronger, faster than anyone that's played the game before him. They could call a foul both ways on every possession involving him. Can't do that I guess.
I hated Malone forever while with Utah for being a dirty player. Still, it's kind of funny to hear people criticize him and Payton for signing on with the Lakers just to get a free ride to a ring, when most players are criticized for being "all about the money" and not caring about winning titles.
I wonder what my Lakers are going to look like next year, from the Coach on down.
