Re: pop up's

yep, get the google one. I've been very happy with it. Also go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download "adaware" and scan the computer.

I can't comment on "tigher code" as I haven't seen the IE code. However, it's lighter and faster which tells me there is less bloat where included.

The advantages come in from useability and nice features that are included... such as tabbed browsing, built-in (easy to use) pop-up blocker, and google search bar. It's simple, effective and faster than IE.

Seriously, all it took for me was tabbed browsing... it keeps all your windows together and lets you bookmark a series of tabs.

The pop-up blocking is easy to use, easy to manage and is very effective - no advertisements or spy ware.

As far as security goes, I expect that it is better than I.E. When using FireFox for a month, then running SpyBot, there are NO hits from tracker cookies etc. When I use I.E. for 2 days then run SpyBot, there is allllllll kinds of crap left on my system. That tells me it is at least more secure from a casual browsing perspective.

*shrug* With the google bar built in, well... I guess you can get that with I.E.... but doesn't IE require ads if you use it? Not on FireFox... It's handy. Big deal. Ctrl-K.

Agreed, so IE has to remain. But that is a limitation of the website, not the client.

Re: pop up's

Google toolbar, best way to go, I've tried a bunch of diff browsers, theres only one I.E. and since everyone is used to it and it works stick with it and add the google toolbar.

Re: pop up's

FYI...hopefully it will save someone else some time...

I started getting popups every minute or so. Ad-aware and Spybot with latest updates would not fix the problem. Each would find registry entries and/or dll files and remove them but they'd reappear after a reboot.

BTW, I didn't have to have a browser open for the thing to send me into advertisement hell.

I finally realized that all the hijacks went to www/look2me/com which re-directed to another ad. Did a web search on this and found an uninstaller here:

Look2me Uninstaller

I hate this kind of marketing.
