What should we call them?
I'm in the process of adopting my 11 year old son (really step-son, but we've been together since he was 4, so I'm his "real dad") and I need a little help with the name situation. He calls me "Papa" when talking to me, and "Dad" when talking about me (I hope that's all he's calling me!), but he still calls my parents by their names. It's not that he doesn't see them as grandparents, it's just what he's used to. But with the adoption going through (hopefully) and another baby on the way, I'd like him to start calling them Grandma & Grandpa, or some version of it, sort of a family unity thing. He's not that comfortable with grandma/grandpa, so I'm trying to figure out alternatives. Any suggestions? My family is German and my wife is Irish, if that leads to any suggestions. Thanks for the input.
