Re: Salary or hourly?

I have seen some salaried people really get abused.

I am hourly and voted hourly.

Re: Salary or hourly?

Hourly because like Freq said, alot of companies take advantage of salaried people. I see it where I work but the trade off is that the pay is less and there's very little overtime allowed so in the end the salaried folks come home with a bigger paycheck. I don't punch a time clock.

Preferred as a business owner/manager, or as an employee (i.e. on the giving or receiving end)?

Re: Salary or hourly?

Salary with overtime..... that 's what I'm looking for outta my next job .
I voted salary because of the flexibility and the ability do things i.e. Dr. appointment, miscellaneous errands and what not with out really losing any $$$ not to mention no one really tracks you hours and following you every movement

Re: Salary or hourly?

Salary. My base pay is more, although with O/T, the hourly in my trade make more, but they can have the overtime. (See signature for reasons ) Also, if I take time off, I get paid. In May, I had surgery on Wisdom teeth and my sinus cavaties (he went in through my gums), I took a week off and got paid.

Also, hourly here usually means paying Union Dues...............

OK, I ain't goin' there!!!!

Edit: BTW, if I do work O/T, like in the winter, I do get 1-1/2.

Re: Salary or hourly?

Though I know some of you I/T guys get shafted working salary, to me an hourly wage is just incentive to be inefficient.

Re: Salary or hourly?

Salary.

Although it IS a tough choice sometimes. I went through a couple years of abuse with overtime w/o pay, emergency call ins, pager going off constantly, etc. Now, it's slowed down and the extra freedom of salary is nice (like others have mentioned). My boss now, he's a different animal. He works ungodly hours per week, sometimes stays 24 consecutive hours on crap that really could wait but he's severly dedicated to the point of - work till your stomach bleeds, hair falls out, eyes bloodshot, sleep for 2 hours a day, etc.
Then again he gets paid very very well.
