In case anyone wants to share their vote, I'll come clean right from the get-go. I voted for the GSXR-1000. To me, no other new bike in this year's lineup landed with a bigger splash or redefined its genre more so than the 150 hp Suzuki.

That said, I'd still not ride one unless I were a track guru. I think the Blade's a far better street bike, but it's not new this year, thus you can't cast a MOTY vote for it.

( Duh! )

Re: Motorcycle Of The Year Award

UPDATE-

Predictably, King Gixxer won MOTY, but there were a couple other winners that turned me on. Yamahammer's FZ-1 was awarded Best Naked Bike and <drum roll for ND4SPD> the 600RR won Best Sportbike!

I hear you Surfr, but consider that the tally was a vote of the people, not something the magazine editors decided on. As such and since most folks can't afford the formidable Tuono-R at close to twenty grand (only 200 of them were made this year anyway), you can see why the Fizzer has the loyal following it does. Besides, the FZ-1 would bitch-smack the base 113 hp Tuono in just about any real world race, and you can buy them for about seven grand if you shop carefully.

One of the guys I went to the Hoot with is on a yellow/black '03 FZ-1 with Ivan's Jet Kit and stock exhaust. It's virtually a dead heat between his bike and my 954...

Edit: typo

Re: Motorcycle Of The Year Award

I alway sliked the 'Rider Power' edition of Ride magazine int he UK - basically asks readers to fill out a questionaire about the bike they ride - whatever it is. They then compile it into a list of best to worst bikes re reliability and customer satisfaction, performance etc. Probably a better way to split modern sports bikes than any other. Guess which bike came out on top the the bikes I had in mind for 2001? 929 (I think 12th or 10th overall - ahead of ZX9,, R1 etc...

Z...

You're f%#&king up my Chi...
