Re: the wife went down...

She was in proceeding through a turn lane here in town. One of the vehicles (a cage) in front of her had left his oil fill cap off the engine of his car so it was belching pools of oil on to the street. You can guess the rest. Bike plus an oil-down equals a go down.

The dipsh*t.

Re: the wife went down...

...but it sounds like aside from the wrecked bike, she's ok. It could easily have been worse if another cager heading her way wasn't paying attention. Count your blessings, and good luck with the ins co

How bad is the wife/bike? How's she handling it?

she's handling it pretty well. She's got a stiff and bruised knee and is eager to get the bike fixed and back on it. In view of that, I'd say she's handling it quite well.

The bike has a scraped stator cover, bunged up right lower cowl, broke left mirror, garfs in the tail cowl, bunged up clutch lever and left bar end, two gashes on the end of the left side of the swingarm (one on the weld and another on the tangs where the chain adj. block is), and a bent shift lever.

The guy who dropped the oil left a trail of oil on the street that led to his house. So she followed it and got a personal introduction to him, informed him what happened and he said he would like to 'take care of it.' *I'm sure he'll change his tune when he sees the bill for the parts and we'll end up making a claim to his insurance company. I'm also sure they'll deny it even though he admitted that it was his truck that spilled the oil, and even though she has pictures of the oil dripping our from underneath his truck. I expect we'll have to run it thru our insurance and let the two companies fight it out.

News at 11.

Whoa! Bad news indeed, yet I'm thankful she didn't get hurt seriously. Here's to her being back in the saddle asap.

Re: the wife went down...

Glad to hear your wife's okay. At least now you can play Doctor and make sure she's recovering nicely. You'll probably earn big time brownie points too.
