Need help with computer problem please

Any of you computer techs can tell me how to fix this?

I been getting an error message RUNDLL it says "error loading winupd.dll the specified module could not be found."

It wouldn't bother me so much except that it pops up about every 2 mins . If i leave my computer on all day, when I come back to it there will be 1000 error windows. I have a feeling it is some kind of virus. My computer is also slower at times and windows explorer crashes very often. I have Norton, Spyware, and Adware. They unfortunately do not get rid of everything I don't know why .

Anyway if anyone has some insite on this let me know.

Re: Need help with computer problem please

Something to do with Windows Update maybe? Do you have Automatic Updates turned on?

Try going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and see if it works. (Click the link to check for updates and see if it makes it all the way through that.)

Check this link out. Computer Cops is a pretty cool site, and I have been able to find everything I need just off searching.

Re: Need help with computer problem please

so...manditory requirements are:

what os?
what service pack (if applicable)?

further geekdom that will be asked later:

what type of internet connection?
what devices are inline? (firewall etc)

Do you mean spyware in general? I am running Norton, Ad-Aware, and Spybot and have no problems. The two spyware programs seem to do a kick-ass job and Norton has caught everything thrown my way so far. I have also added Zone Alarm (per recommendations of some forum members) and it also seems to catch a lot of sh!t. Best part is, other than Norton, the other three are free downloads!

good gawd man
You gotta at least get a hardware firewalll if you're on cable, and always shut off the modem/pc when you're not there doing anything on it.

In the interim, I'd try to see if you are up to date on all the windows updates?

is your ad-aware up to date?

no virus software? try trendmicro.com's housecall service for a start.

locate hijackthis.exe (search google) and run a startup log - then save the file and post it here. Someone can give it a look for ya...

Good luck
