Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

I thought Verizon was fast.....it has nothing on Cable speed! My internet is now faster than windows! It opens pages faster than the computer opens folders. I'm amazed!

Re: Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

Yeah, Cable is generally faster than DSL. Most DSL is limited to 1.5mbs, or less, depending on how far away you are. Cable is usually 3mbs+.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but if I was on cable during the day in the winter when kids were in school, it was lightning fast, and faster than DSL. At night, peak times, Cable slowed right down. Hopefully you won't find that.

Bikes and Golf, the rest is just details.

Yep thats the way it goes, DSL is a constant speed and slower than cable, but once peak times hit cable drops down below dsl...I think cable it worth it though.

Re: Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

I haven't had that problem with Cox High Speed (what I had before) and now Time Warner Cable.

It fluctuates a little, but not that noticeable. I honestly don't have a single complaint about Cox.

Re: Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

From what I know, cable speed is dependent on the number of subscribers on a node(?). The more people log on, the slower it gets. DSL is rock steady. I have the SBC 3mbs service and it smokes...

Re: Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

DSL typically lags when the carrier oversubscribes the upstream link which is pretty common. Cable does the same thing but on a smaller level so its a few folks vs. the town of X. Folks notice it more w/cable because it's so localized and so fast, that any perf. degredation is highly noticeable.

So yes - you're all right, carry on

Re: Verizon High speed to Cable High Speed, WOW

Guess what we are going to be rolling out in 1 month!

DSL2+

right now we offer a 1Meg DSL, and a 8Meg DSL...truly one gets about 600-800Kbps with 1Meg, and 4-6Meg with the 8Meg service.

Team Honda - well sorta...
