Time for a new pc!

Well, it's been over 3 years since I built my last pc. I've been happy with my 1.2ghz oldass machine so far but it's time to upgrade mainly because I need some writeoffs this year for taxes.

What's the latest and greatest as far as motherboards, processors, memory, video, etc.. I'm not looking for the best of the best. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. Great performance without remortgaging. I haven't checked in a while and I'm sure someone here does this crap for a living and can save me the time in research!

Thanks,
Mark

Probably want to post what its for... Will you need a Capture Video card, DVD Burner, etc... Might help narrow down the choices a bit.

Re: Time for a new pc!

I already have a sony dru-530 dvd burner in my old pc that I'll throw into the new one. No real need for video capture, my mini-dv feeds into the pc with firewire. Just a basic machine with enough power to play the latest and greatest games.

Re: Time for a new pc!

I tend to stick to MSI or Gigabyte boards, they seem to run the best. Maxtor for hard drives, Crucial memory and a decent Nvidia video card. www.newegg.com has awesome prices and awesome service...

Yeah, newegg.com is pretty good, although I would prefer Western Digital over Maxtor. Just my .02
